Job Overview:

Experienced and detail-oriented Senior Financial Accounting Manager to oversee and lead our financial accounting operations. In this key leadership role, you will manage the preparation of financial statements, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and provide strategic guidance to the accounting team. Your expertise will be critical in driving financial accuracy, optimizing processes, and contributing to the overall financial health of the organization.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting
  • Manage and oversee all external audit requirements as well as the timely filing of all statutory reporting and tax filing
  • Prepare and review consolidated financial statements in compliance with applicable standards (FRS102, UKGAAP)
  • Oversee fiscal compliance including Group VAT return, corporation tax and statistical reporting
  • Develop and implement internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures to maintain the integrity of financial data
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals to achieve department objectives
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and support decision-making processes
  • Analyse financial performance, identify trends, and recommend improvements to optimize financial operations
  • Monitor and manage cash flow, budgets, and forecasts to align with organizational goals
  • Stay updated on changes in accounting standards, regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance and continuous improvement

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • Attention to detail with an ability to identify and resolve discrepancies in financial data
  • A proactive approach to improving processes and systems
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, capable of handling multiple priorities
  • Strong presentation skills for delivering complex financial information to non-financial audiences
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Familiarity with financial modelling and forecasting techniques
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and demonstrating integrity in all aspects of financial management
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s degree or professional certification such as ACA, ACCA, or ICAEW preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial accounting and management, preferably in a senior role
  • Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles, standards (e.g. IFRS/GAAP), and regulatory requirements
  • Proven leadership and team management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate others
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels
  • Proficiency in financial software and advanced Excel skills

Additional Desirable Skills:

  • Experience in working within a multinational organization or a matrix structure
  • Familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems such as SageX3, ZAPP, Walters Kluwers
  • Exposure to mergers and acquisitions or due diligence processes
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies in finance, such as automation and artificial intelligence tools
  • Experience with ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) reporting and compliance
  • Strong networking skills and the ability to develop partnerships with external stakeholders
  • Continuous professional development and an interest in acquiring new qualifications
